The old Gaztetxe was one of the first to offer concerts in the Basque Country. We started it in 1984, and it had a life of twelve years. In exchange for this, the City Council left us the current building, and bears the costs of its water and electricity. We have been in this Gaztetxe since 1996.
We hold an assembly every week, where we make the most significant decisions. So we strive to make it work in a self-managed way. These are some of the current challenges:
- Getting more people involved and, in particular, greater youth participation.
- To provide the town with an alternative leisure and culture in the most self-managed way possible.
- Transmitting values such as solidarity, collaboration, neighborhood work… and fostering relationships between people of different generations.
