Founded on November 18, 2001 - the Fábio Luz Social Library - BSFL began to form its collection from the gathering of books, magazines, periodicals and documents remaining from the archives of CELIP (Ideal Peres Libertarian Studies Circle), occupying, since then, one of the rooms of the Center for Social Culture of Rio de Janeiro - CCS/RJ, in the same building that housed the centennial Bahian Beneficence Association, of which the writer, journalist, doctor and professor Fábio Luz was a member at the beginning of the twentieth century.
By keeping its doors open to the public, the Fábio Luz Social Library is fulfilling its most important task, that of creating conditions for students, workers, underemployed and unemployed - people who generally have little access to books, newspapers, magazines and other media - to discover in themselves the capacity to acquire new knowledge and, above all, to create for themselves a new ethic. based on values such as solidarity, cooperation and mutual support.
