The Porteous building (now renamed "Le Plongeoir") at the end of chemin de la Verseuse (Vernier/Geneva) has been occupied by the Prenons La Ville since Saturday afternoon, August 25, 2018, at the end of the 19th raft race.
This place is owned by the State of Geneva and has been empty for 20 years. It was initially to be allocated to Culture to develop activities there. However, Pierre Maudet's Security Department has taken over this building and transformed it into yet another prison establishment, in line with the Canton's policy of exponential development of its prison infrastructure.
This was without counting on the resistance of some people who are currently developing a program to rehabilitate this place, outside the dominant commercial and security logic of the city.
