BOOM Cafe
Short url:
The BOOM café was launched in October 2015 in honor of the resistant tree that welcomes us on its terrace.
Our goal is to create a warm place where the quality of the sustainable products offered is combined with a clear commitment to solidarity. Alongside the activity of selling and tasting food products from peasant agriculture and the local economy (preferably organic and fair), one of our projects is to organize awareness-raising and support actions for various projects citizens and activists.
On the menu: meetings with producers; presentations of books and documentaries; conferences and workshops for adults on the theme of autonomy and transition, sustainable food, the social and solidarity economy; a little bookshelf and the creation of a small "information point" on the practices and citizen alternatives in and around Brussels - from the struggle for sovereignty and peasant agriculture to a social and just economy, through solidarity with migrants from here and elsewhere, the fight against TTIP and CETA and existing training in different areas of commitment!
We operate in self-management, with collective decision making at our bimonthly meetings, and we are always open to new volunteers wishing to join the café.
The BOOM café was launched in October 2015 following the resumption of the management of the site by a group of volunteers at the end of August 2015. The premises had existed since 2014 in the form of the Fairtrade Coffee, an initiative of the profit-making association Optimart which continues to be our legal structure.
