The area where the CSOA eXSnia is located is part of the former CISA-SNIA Viscosa factory, closed and abandoned a few decades ago. On 12 February 1995, the part that houses the social centre was occupied, blocking a gigantic building speculation that would have affected the entire area of the former factory.
The story of this struggle begins in the early 1990s, with the opposition of the Pigneto Prenestino Neighbourhood Committee to the fraudulent construction of a mega shopping centre, and the speculative aims of one of the most powerful "builders" who got their hands on Rome, Pulcini.
The ciclofficina is a busy, self-managed laboratory. In the bike workshop you can learn how to repair your bike or build one from scratch. One of the aims of the bike workshop is to share knowledge, so no one will repair your bike for you, but you will find mechanics who will help you where you don't know. The bike shop is not a shop: we don't sell bikes, parts and work.
