Building solidarity in the city
Short url:
For the past week we've been occupying Ferdinand Bolstraat 14 and trying to make a space for people to meet their needs, get together and organize. We've set a washing machine area, free shop and free food. We also want the space to be used for events and open to more people. On Thursday the 30th we're hosting a public assembly for everyone who wants to be active and get involved in this space. We also want to discuss and organize concrete actions to keep building solidarity in the city, particularly with undocumented people.
We work along the principles of
Mutal aid - we act together for shared benefit through the voluntary exchange of resources and services
Distributed power – No one has more power than anyone else
Direct action : we want to create change or highlight issues in a community without relying on government or other indirect methods to accomplish goals.
- We don’t work with companies, the private sector the police or the state
– We are against all forms of exploitation and oppression including but not limited to those based on class, race, sex, sexuality, gender or ability, our feminism is trans and sex-worker inclusive.
– We organise in a supportive, inclusive way, free from bullying or abusive behaviour
This is an evening to organize concretely with like-minded people, please only come if you agree with those principles. It will start at 7pm and in the second half of the assembly we will split of into smaller working groups to directly start working towards making our ideas a reality. The assembly will be followed by a bar night to chill together :)
