On the morning of Thursday, August 29, 2024, the police intervened at 43 rue de Stalingrad to evict the building occupied by the Gambetta collective for more than 10 days. This building, empty for years, belongs to the real estate developer SOPIC, which has filed a complaint against the occupation. It is this complaint that, thanks to the new Kasbarian Bergé law, has allowed the police to intervene without waiting for a court decision. The inhabitants of the Gambetta collective, who were aware of the risks of an eviction, had all gone out before 6 a.m. so as not to risk being arrested. The Gambetta collective, made up of about forty families, including children attending school in Montreuil, once again find themselves without prospects. They are calling for a large gathering on Tuesday, September 3, the day after the start of the school year, from 3 p.m. in front of the Montreuil Town Hall.
