Ostrava is getting ready for its second pride event celebrating gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and other culture! 🏳️‍🌈

The current situation is complicated, but we believe that pride cannot be cancelled. Pride is not just a parade or an event, pride is each and every one of us. It is the community we create, the people we love and the society we fight for!
That is why Ostravský PRIDE will take place even in these messy times. The very idea of pride events is based around our fight for equality, against bullying, discrimination and criminalization of LGBT+ people around the world. LGBT+ people came up with prides so that we can create a world where no one will be afraid to be themselves and where no one will make you feel ashamed of who you are or who you love. Pride is a celebration of individuality, beauty, love and self-expression. The coronavirus situation cannot and must not stop us from pursuing our goal.

So how is it going to work? 📅
1️⃣ If it is safe for everyone to go out and celebrate LGBT+ culture in the streets of Ostrava, our pride will take place in a similar way to last year. The parade, which falls on Saturday, August 22, will be the culmination of our Pride Week. During this week we will organize events aimed at raising awareness of LGBT+ topics in our city and region. You can look forward to lectures, workshops, debates and more.
2️⃣ However, if strict measures are still in place, our Pride Week will go online and the parade itself may be rescheduled or we may explore new creative forms of LGBT+ activism.
