It seems like one of the first assigements of a screenwriting-class: write a typical boy meets girl scenario. This assigment was easily passed by French filmmaker Leos Carax with his debute feature in 1984. After his first produced short Strangulation Blues (1980) Carax made many noteworthy and highly appreciated ‘festival-films’ like Les amants du Pont-Neuf (1991), Tokyo! (2008) and Holy Motors (2012). Boy Meets Girl tells the story of young aspiring filmmaker Alex. When his girlfriend breaks up with him and starts dating his friend, he seems to lose control…
