The documentary Check It, by directors Dana Flor and Toby Oppenheimer, follows a street gang of black gay, queer and trans youths in Washington, which one started from a handful of nine-year-olds who found the protection they needed in each other. In the group they are allowed to be fierce and fabulous, and find an attitude to help with the discrimination and violence they face on a daily basis.
