Folkets Hus (litt. “The peoples house”) is a user-controlled communal house. The house was squatted in 1971 and has since given room to countless political and social movements in Nørrebro and in Copenhagen. The house now hosts a variety of activities – everything from folk dances, political meetings, soup kitchen to bike repair workshop and television production.

In Folkets Hus it is the users who make decisions. House meetings are held every second Tuesday where decisions are made collectively. All users are collectively responsible for the functioning of the house. But there are also a number of groups performing various administrative tasks.

Folkets Hus is a central part of the local environment in the Nørrebro district and often houses seminars, concerts, festivals and workshops, and other non-profit and voluntary based initiatives. If you are interested in using the house for an event, you are very welcome to contact us.
