Don't Be A Tool! is a reading and discussion group bringing the worlds of engineering and radical politics together. It is for anyone who wants to explore how engineering and technology is linked to capitalism and oppressive power structures, while also thinking about how things could be done differently.

This month we'll be discussjng the Corporate Watch book, TECH: A guide to to the politics and philosophy of technology, which is available online for free via the link below (pdf download) or is available to buy in paper form if you prefer that.

This book is a good introductory text as it gives on overview of different ideas about technology in very accessible language and has lists of further reading at the end of each chapter (it's a book I wish I'd found sooner!). For the reading group, we'll be focussing on Chapter 8: Politics and be using the prompt questions at the end of the chapter as a starting point for the discussion. Hope to see you there!

The event is free but please bring along a donation for the venue if you can.

Accessibility: there's a step into the building and we're in a room upstairs, but let me know if you have any access needs and we'll try and accomodate them (there may be a possibility to move downstairs).

Please email me at dontbeatool@proton.me if there's anything you want to discuss.
