Radical Sunday School for Palestine
Short url:
It's time for some good care. Radical Sunday School is aided by some lovely Palestinian folks and other comrades to serve some delicious food (feel free to donate a little), have a some Palestinian live music on the Oud at 5:00pm, and a short talk on education in times of crisis, but we also simply want to offer a space to share how we feel. We hope to create a warm and caring space for anyone who would like to join us for the day and enjoy delicious mujaddara.
If you want to help cooking, send us an email at radicalsundayschool@proton.me
Afterwards, you can join the Palestinian movie night at Joe's Garage (highly recommended!): Homage by Assassination (Elia Suleiman, 1992) and Aisheen, Still Alive in Gaza (Nicolas Wadimoff, 2010). The screening starts at 20:30. Here is the link to the event: https://squ.at/r/9qgj
Or come with us to watch Arna's Children at Kriterion, a benefit event for the Freedom Theatre in Jenin. There will also be a Q&A at Kriterion, and we will discuss the film after. If you get in touch with us by email (radicalsundayschool@proton.me), we will get the ticket for you (it's 8,50 eur) and then ask you to pay us back in cash at Joe's Garage - but pay us back as much as you can. If you can pay more, that's great, then we can help fund tickets for those who are not able to pay as much. We are not going to check how much you pay. Sign up before there are no tickets left, we cannot guarantee a ticket. But do only sign up if you can make it. We will collect the money at 18:00 at Joe's, and leave to Kriterion together at 18:45. If you are not sure, there is always the movie screening at Joe's Garage to go to, for free, of course!

The formal education system affects us all. Not only are we forced to attend schools growing up, but academic research shapes our governments, our news, and how we view the world around us. As much as many of us want to believe in the promise of institutional education, the sad fact is that our schools and universities are undemocratic and elitist. They perpetuate inequalities instead of giving people the tools to fight them. This world is fucked.
Here at Radical Sunday School, though, we know that another world is possible. Everyone should be able to direct their own learning, to grow together with their communities, and to live as though they’re already free. There are countless examples of movements already putting these ideas into practice. This collective is trying to follow in their footsteps, organizing to explore new ways of learning based on principles of autonomy, mutual aid, and egalitarianism.
