IP version 6: Explained
Short url:
IP version 6 has been around for over 20 years. However, it is not fully adopted yet. During this workshop we will discuss some of the introductory details of the protocol, such as how it is different from the previous version 4, and what to keep in mind. We'll also discuss some of its adoption difficulties and its practical and ideological benefits. A large part will also consist of a Q&A on IPv6 basics on topics such as configuring IPv6 both manually and automatically, as well as approaches to firewalling.
We'll also provide a network to test some IPv6 with, even though priority will lie with theory. A more practical workshop can also be organised as a followup, in case there is enough interest.
All levels are welcome, but the content is aimed at people who can at least configure manual IP address with version 4.
