This is cult director John waters' personal favorite of his early films, and rightly so. This is John Waters at his trashy zenith, and all of of his original actors are together here for the last time and giving their very best performances. Set in the white trash suburbs of Baltimore, transvestite DIVINE plays Dawn Davenport, a good girl turned bad when she doesn't get the cha-cha shoes she wanted for Christmas. After turning to a life of delinquency, she gets mixed up with some fascist beauty salon owners.

This film is about America's sick obsession with stardom, and it ends with an apocalyptic fashion show. Especially in these days of ridiculously huge production budgets, over-slick filmmaking and arrogant actors, this trash masterpiece is more relevant than ever. Starring Divine, David Lochary, Mink Stole, Edith Massey, and Cookie Mueller. And hey, it's a Christmas movie!
