FietsKliniek needs you!!

After 6 years of working with and for the community without any subsidies or support, we are at the verge of being broke. Pandemie affected us and we haven’t been able to recover.

In Fietskliniek we care about active sustainable mobility. We are located at the heart of the social-political center Nieuwland.

We are a socially engaged bike workspace.  We fix and recycle bicycles by reusing when possible secondhand bike parts.

At the Do-It-Yourself workshops, we welcome people to fix their own bike and learn regardless of ability, age, gender, identity, income, or sexual orientation. Volunteers are always around to provide guidance.  The Fietskliniek is a welcoming space for people who may feel less comfortable in the male dominated realms of bike mechanics. We believe that everyone should feel comfortable doing bike repairs.

It started as an individual initiative, but it has become a community space aiming to improve awareness of the importance of cycling on a daily basis.

 WHY WE NEED MONEY

• To continue paying rent (€400) during the next 6 months. € 2,400
• To replace/buy some new tools € 1,000
• To build a buffer € 2,000
• To be able to engage in conversations with different possible partners to build a future for Fietskliniek.

Fietskliniek FACTS

500 People helped to fix their bikes at Do it Yourself" sessions paying € 2 per hour

10 People trained to be bike mechanics. Mostly vulnerable people, migrants in limbo.

300 recycled bicycles to re-use their parts.

10 Volunteer heroes have made Do It Yourself workshops possible.

We have helped people from the neighborhood, expats, students, low income individuals and families.

In the whole of Amsterdam we are a unique concept! There is no other workspace like ours!!
