This evening is dedicated to the young filmmaker Giorgos Efthimiou from Athens. We will be screening five of his experimental short films. Giorgos Efthimiou is a filmmaker, writer, stage director, and curator. He has been making films since 2011. Efthimiou’s films have been screened and awarded at several international film festivals. His films explore interlinked stories and characters; such as two astronaut beekeepers who hire a professional pointer dog to help them find a mobile phone, a group of people living amongst octopuses and lemons that take over the filmmaking process, amongst others. In Efthimiou's own words, they are “films by a gorilla who is making guerilla films, in need of spontaneous expression. Films by an auteur who is not satisfied with the conventional film language. Paradoxical films that feel ultra bored with an era without paradoxes. Romantic films made by a gang of friends.”
