DIY DJing workshop for beginners
PUSH BUTTONS is a DIY project, offering accessible sound education for people who are underrepresented in electronic music in the Netherlands. This workshop prioritises queer, trans, non binary and intersex folks, people of colour, women and girls.
DYI DJing for beginners
This workshop will focus on DJing off of your laptop. There are a lot of myths and memes about the laptop DJ, but for some (read: many) who don’t have easy access to CDJS or turntables, its the only way to get started or to practice with any regularity.
Plus it also has its advantages :)
The workshop is really for beginners and will involve learning about a couple of different types of software (Virtual DJ, Traktor, Mixx), becoming more familiar with the interfaces, mixing, looping, using effects, building a set, recording your mixes, setting yourself up if you want to play live, and a few other things you can do on the software.
For this first workshop we will NOT be using controllers.
Please come with a laptop with Virtual DJ installed and a pair of headphones. We will also do our best to have the software available for sharing via usb or hard drive if need be! If you don’t have headphones/ a laptop let us know and we will try and sort some out for you!
Registration via this form, there are a few questions to fill out, please answer them all!
This is a free workshop for all ages, meant for beginners. No musical or technical background needed. Registration is necessary. The venue is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for other accessibility inquiries.
Spots for this workshop are limited, we will let you know if we have a spot for you asap (if too many people register we will make a selection of participants). This workshop prioritises queer, trans, non binary and intersex folks, people of colour, women and girls.
