The film takes place in a small city called Saraqeb, located in Idlib's countryside, northwest of Syria, a town whose walls have become a three-year chronicle of the people's movement against the regime. Lovers' Notebooks plot revolves around the story of the hopeful Syrian people expressing the ongoing misery, dreams, hopes and fantasies in their country, and the changes after the revolution through Graffiti, as a continuous peacefully resisting, simulated reality and development in all its dimensions. This film sheds light on the peaceful aspect of the Syrian uprising, trying to provide a more realistic picture, far from artificially, by approaching people as a centerpiece of the film, monitoring all developments and phases of the Syrian revolution, including the entry of ISIS to the country, and liberating the city from them after.
The movie takes you on the night-time adventures of the men who write on the walls in the Syrian village. Their slogans and other texts offer a document of the revolution for three years, both euphoria and failure. The walls are the book. The walls are the basis for their existence, protecting them from outside violence. They also bear the names of martyrs, common expressions, poetry, revolutionary slogans and other Graffiti.
The director Eyad Aljarod will be present for a Q&A following the film.
