This film chronicles Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, prominent figures in the gay liberation and transgender rights movement, in New York City, from the 1960s to the 1990s. It centers on activist Victoria Cruz's investigation into Johnson's death in 1992, which was initially ruled a suicide by police despite suspicious circumstances.
