Café Mano Negra is a small but pretty awesome place that got squatted about in the 1980s, housing mainly punk rock concerts and political meetings of the radical left. Shortly after it was handed over by its official owner, the University Osnabrück, to the students body, whose students' union, including the autonomous units, for example the unit of lesbians and other women* that holds a huge feminist library, is in front of the Café Mano Negra entrance in the same building since then. By those developments, Café Mano Negra became an official students' initiative. However, it is of course open to everyone interested in sharply left politics and socio-critical theory. There is also a large info shop with literature, at most radical press. Café Mano Negra offers a free space for several regular group meetings, as much as for irregular presentations, discussions and other events. And first of all it is a cozy place to read the manifold radical magazines and journals on display and to discuss and chat with others over a cup of tea or coffee.

PS: Punk rock concerts kept being performed at the outside of Café Mano Negra as "tunnel concerts" at least once a year for several decades - until recently, when the University got terribly creepy about it. But we still stick to: punk's not dead!!!

opening times:

There are no regular opening times for now. Best chances to find the doors open are in the afternoon or early evening during the week. The entrance is on the inside left of the small tunnel of the building, in front of the door to the students' union (AStA).
