ARF! is a new project affiliated with the Vrije Bond Groningen where we focus on alternative technology to circumvent big tech surveillance and government repression. Two of the main things we want to focus on for now are Mesh-networks and helping people switch from Google, Microsoft, etc. to Open Source alternatives. Especially with an eye on the new EU chat control legislation it is important to find Open Source ways to communicate without government surveillance/repression. With Meshtastic nodes we want to create an independent communication system that operates through radio waves and can therefore not be shutdown like apps that rely on the internet. We also want to learn together about using Linux and other Open Source apps to help the activist scene become less reliant on big tech.
