Manu was arrested on May 22 in Belprato, a small mountain village where we both live with other friends.
Juan was also arrested on the same day in Marmentino, a nearby village. Juan was arrested after roughly two years of hiding, on charges of association for terrorism purposes (270 bis) for an attack on the headquarters of Lega (far-right party) in Treviso. Manu was arrested on charges of aiding a fugitive person (which provides for up to 4 years' imprisonment). After the first week in the prison of Brescia, Juan has been moved to the jail of Terni, where he now has to serve a series of final ones (between 6 and 8 years) + a 2-year sentence for possession of false documents, while we are still waiting the trial on the association of terrorism. Manu was moved to the jail of Monza (Milan) after his house arrest was refused. Since May Manu has been detained in the Monza prison, locked in his cell 23 hours a day. Also from May, all requests for house arrest were refused on the grounds that as an anarchist, not recognizing the state and its laws, it would not respect the terms of the precautionary protection (in practice, a trial of intentions). On September 19 there was supposed to be the manu process which was moved the same day to November 21, and instead an application was made for an expert opinion on some pressure cookers that they would like to connect to the attack in Treviso. Evidently they are also trying to link Manu to the attack, in fact the expert opinion will cover both of them. On November 21 there was the trial of Manu an he was sentenced to 3 years and 2 months. In mid-February there will be precisely the reports on these pots. Counter-appraisals are expensive and efforts are being made to raise as much money as possible to deal with this expense which is likely to prove crucial.
