The story of Marika Ninou, a great singer of the Greek underground music called Rembetiko, or the Greek blues. Brought in the mainland by the Asia Minor refugees, rembetiko became part of the local urban underground and slowly, from the slums of the refugees, came to express the joys and the sufferings of the people . The film shows the story of Rembetiko, parallel to the history of Greece through the troubled years from 1922 to the after-war period. The music is original and was created by well-known composer Stavros Xarchakos, lyrics by the important poet Nikos Gatsos.
