Duke Garwood, Britain's poet of feedback-smoked blues guitar, returns to OCCII on July 4th, 2019 for a special collaboration with the Amsterdam-based world boogie rhythm section of Franciso Rosaly (USA) on drums and Aaron Lumley (CA) on double bass. Freshly returned from obliterating jazz festivals across Canada, power trio Cactus Truck –featuring John Dikeman, Jasper Stadhouders and Onno Govaert– will kick off the night in high style.

Duke Garwood is a London-based multi-instrumentalist and recording artist whose expertise on a wide range of instruments has brought him to work with an eclectic range of musicians from Mark Lanegan to the Master Musicians of Jajouka. Garwood's own music is rooted in the blues, generating a dark and spectral sound full of late-night atmosphere on acclaimed albums like 2014's Heavy Love and 2017's Garden of Ashes on Heavenly Recordings.

Frank Rosaly is an American drummer, composer and sound designer living in Amsterdam. A percussionist of the utmost musicality and extreme versatility, Rosaly has made music with Ryley Walker, The Young Mothers, Eric Boeren's All Ellington, Josh Abrams' Natural Information Society and Jaap Blonk's Retirement Overdue among others.

Double bassist Aaron Lumley recently moved to Amsteram from Montreal, Canada. Lumley's freewheeling approach and gut-stringed sound have brought him to play bass with artists as diverse as Arto Lindsay, Dave Rempis, Matt 'MV' Valentine and Hamid Drake.

Based in Amsterdam, Cactus Truck are a fire-breathing improvisational trio is comprised of bassist/guitarist Jasper Stadhouders, drummer Onno Govaert, and American-born saxophonist John Dikeman. The band plays a take-no-prisoners, high-energy brand of free jazz strongly influenced by Albert Ayler at his most intense while incorporating elements of Delta blues, Japanese noise, and no wave. They have toured multiple continents and are returning for this concert fresh from a cross-Canada tour playing major jazz festivals.
