With the sun finally starting to gain the upper hand, our attentions wander towards more tropical climates and exotic locales. This time, our favourite guest programmer takes us on a journey to the Far East, where popular Hollywood Blockbusters were remade with 10 percent of the budget, but a 1000 times the imaginations and craziness: ‘The title of this movie is of course a rip-off of the Hollywood blockbuster starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. But here the modern and ancient come together in a tale about a female anthropologist skin diver who discovers an underwater city, and is suddenly possessed by a sex-hungry Asian sea Goddess. The Goddess then returns to civilization for revenge as Lady Terminator, wrecking havoc with her AK47 machine gun. She is finally able to fulfill a 100 year-old curse of destruction. What can I say? This flick is a cinematic roller-coaster ride fusing Asian black magic and the Western world, but through an almost feminist lens. After all, who wouldn’t want to see a woman knock the shit out of men for a change? Plenty of nudity and loads of camp appeal, all with an otherworldly Indonesian twist.’
