Bruce Labruce | 2013 | Canada | 79’ | NL subs
Canadian filmmaker Bruce Labruce (Raspberry Reich, Otto) is one of the most ground-breaking filmmakers around these days. He started off making creative gay porn, and his first feature was already proclaimed by Kurt Cobain as his favorite movie. Labruce's predilection for going places no one else would even imagine is evident in this amazing flick, which is about a young man named Lake with a girlfriend Desiree, who finds himself attracted to an elderly man in a geriatric clinic. A controversial statement about the different types of love that exist in this world, moving away from hip and fashionable stereotypes of what beauty is. The film is not sensationalist in the least... instead it is absolutely charming.
On Friday 3 May, the film will be introduced by Jeffrey of Cine Interzone, and the film will include English subtitles. On Thursday 9 May we will show the film with Dutch subtitles.
