On Saturday, November 19, 2017, the building in Via Pianezza 115, the former headquarters of the APA (provincial breeders' association) and the former Experimental Institute for Animal Husbandry, was occupied. Edera squat has at least fifty people who have set to work to clean up and recover the abandoned building.
On October 3, 2022 at 5.30 a.m., police, digos and carabinieri evicted the occupied and self-managed building, the Edera Squat. Following that morning, many initiatives were made to protest against the eviction and respond to yet another attack on social spaces. L'Edera, and anyone who sympathizes with this experience and beyond, has taken back the streets, particularly in the Lucento district, on the outskirts of the city of Turin, where the occupied building was located and where the need for free, accessible and inclusive spaces is real and urgent.
