--------

In 2017 Code Rood emerged as a new direct action solidarity network in the Netherlands. With 350 people we successfully blocked the Amsterdam coal harbour for a whole day. This year we disrupted 'business as usual' at the 'Tankenpark' in Farmsum, in a massive 50h blockade in Groningen with 700 participants to protest against the gas extraction in the region, setting a new record for the largest civil disobedience action for climate justice in the history of the country. Only a couple of weeks ago roughly 2000 people, including many participants from the Netherlands, blocked the coal train tracks to disrupt RWE's dirty business.

There is no question that there is a huge momentum for large scale civil disobedience to stop the climate crisis and capitalism! A few questions remain: how do we best channel our energy as Code Rood? How can we improve our infrastructure and skills in order to mobilize better and to act more efficiently? What should be our next target? This evening is there to discuss exactly that.

It will partly be a reflection on the lessons we can draw from 2 seasons of Code Rood, and partly a brainstorm about next steps. We invite you to share your opinions and ideas!

Similar evenings will be organised in different places in the Netherlands.
