Francisco Meirino / Antoine Chessex / N0N Merci + Musikgesellschaft / Na-aH
Active since 1994 in experimental music and live performance, Francisco Meirino's music explores the tension between programmable material and the potential for its failure, he is primarily interested in the idea of recording what is not supposed to be: gear failures, the death of PA systems, magnetic fields and electro-static noises and in how failure can become something more than just annoying. Francisco Meirino's music is fascinating by its physical intensity and detail precision. He mainly works with the computer, modular synthesizer, reel-to-reel tape recorders, magnetic fields detectors, piezo tranducers, field recorders and home-made electronics.

"The tenor sax came out a couple of minutes into the set and sixteen flavours of fury were suddenly unleashed on the crowd. Seriously, a microphone inside the tenor plus some effect pedals equals a sort of shuddering drone but the reed-biting squeals took the whole thing way beyond anything I’ve ever heard live; by the end of the set, there was a wild man on stage, tearing holes in the fabric of reality with his horn and daring anybody present to do more than simply gape in awe ». Nobody plays the saxophone as abysmal as Chessex, when transforming his instrument into a black distorted foghorn by the use of circular breathing, amps and distorsion pedals.
