The Centre d'Actions Sociales Autogéré - nicknamed the CASA del Sol - is a squat open since the end of August 2019, evicted on 23 July 2020.

Located at 2 rue du faubourg Saint Jaumes, in the former building of the stewardship of the Jardin des Plantes, the CASA later became the residence of the secretary general of the rectorate. The abandoned building overlooks the Queen's garden, a 4500 m² almost wild green setting, closed to the public for two centuries, but defended by a neighborhood association. On September 19th, the squat won its first legal battle, the administrative court of Montpellier rejecting the emergency eviction procedure claimed by the owner. On October 23rd, the police force forced the entrance and controlled the identity of the people. Accompanied by electricians and a bailiff, they took the opportunity to make a quick inventory of fixtures, as well as two people in police custody.
