This film, which was only released in November 2021, is about missions of the sea rescue organization Sea-Eye on the Mediterranean Sea and brings the reality of people seeking protection on the run closer by focusing on individual fates.
Following the film screening, we invite you to an open discussion with local activists and to get to know each other.
About the project / film (info from https://route4-film.de/)
Screening in german and multilingual with german subtitles
From the desert to the Mediterranean Sea
Over 15 months, the production company Boxfish accompanied the sea rescue ship ALAN KURDI of the association "Sea-Eye" during five missions as a mediateam on the Mediterranean Sea. In addition to numerous moving moments at sea, material was also produced in countries such as Niger, Tunisia, Libya, Italy and Malta. This material, which has not yet been published but is very dear to us, we would now like to present to the public in the form of the documentary film "Route 4".
Although "Route 4" is framed by a theme, namely the danger that prevails in Libya and emanates from there, it is not the goal to tell a continuous story. Rather, we want to give viewers a glimpse into what they have experienced and seen by focusing on the individual fates of those seeking protection. We want to draw attention to problems created by the EU itself. To the suffering and hardships that people face on their journeys, and to the incredible work of NGOs (in this case Sea-Eye), who are the only ones taking on the task of rescuing people in the Mediterranean.
