DIY-day: Embroidery and stuff
Books are great! However, there are many skills that can't really be learned by reading and require practical experience.
For this reason, the Barricade is going to host from time to time a DIY-day where people can get together and share skills.
Do you love embroidering, knitting, crocheting, drawing, sowing etc. but haven’t had the time or the chance to sit down and actually do it? Come this Sunday and enjoy being creative together!
This afternoon you can enjoy a cup of tea and bring a creative activity to do. Here you can learn from each other and sharpen your skill or just enjoy a chat while you work.
Everyone is welcome, beginners, experts and people who have no idea what they are doing but want to explore textiles or other creative endeavours. So, bring yourself, bring your friends, and don’t forget something to work on!
Book-Café The Barricade is a volunteer-run public library with a focus on anarchism and leftist politics. In our permanent collection, we have a variety of materials (books, journals, zines) on feminism, marxism, decolonialism, environmentalism, veganism, squatting and DIY culture. This collection consists of both classic and contemporary texts in English and Dutch. Becoming a member and borrowing books is free.
We believe that self-education is a crucial element in the struggle for social change and therefore we aim to provide a space for collective learning. We organize discussions, reading groups and workshops that are free and open to anyone who is interested.
We are open every Sunday from 4pm, people can come check our permanent collection, our newest books and zines, or just come have a chat with us, if you wanna get involved or propose some events you can contact us at email@example.com
