Social Screenings: Inventing Our Life: The Kibbutz Experiment

Short url:

Whatever the criticisms of Israel as an entity, the kibbutz movement was nonetheless one of the world's longest running and most successful experiments in creating communal societies based on socialist principles. Charting the radical foundation and vibrant early life of various kibbutzim, this film also examines their recent decline amid market-driven pressures of the 21st century. As the tens of thousands of people who still believe in the kibbutz experiment struggle to maintain their communal way of life, the question soon shifts from "Can it survive?" to "Yes, but at what price?"

As always, a discussion will follow the screening; we encourage you to take part.
