Migrant Health and (In)Access

Short url:

Drawing from MayDay Rooms’ Race Today archives and contemporary resources on community healthcare, this presentation explores the histories of migrant health and access in London; its ties to international structures of health, race, migration, gender, and labour; and through lines to current struggles for free health access. This presentation, based in the 1970s but reaching forward, reads between the lines of historical records that do not directly reference medicine to understand health as an interdisciplinary phenomenon that extends beyond medicine and biology. Following the presentation, a discussion will be held to further explore the contemporary relevance of health and migration struggles.
The evening will an informal research presentation facilitated by Kavya Srikanth who has been undertaking a student placement with us this summer.
