Short url:

https://squ.at/r/7p6t

Ishani from Breakup Haircut from first timers 2019 will be teaching Songwriting for Punx as part of First Timers Fast 2020 series of workshops. A crash course in basic chords, majors and minors, chord progressions your fave bands probably use, and how you use chord progressions to make it easier to write a song. This is a guitar focused workshop but feel free to bring along another instrument if you usually work with something else. Some low pressure lyric writing will also be looked at.
Suitable for all levels Inc. Complete beginners
What to bring: if you have an instrument you usually work with you can bring along your guitar, keyboard, bass guitar or Ukelele.
There are 15 places for this workshop. Book a place in advance to avoid disappointment! Tickets are £5 (+booking fee). We aim to make our workshops accessible as possible, so if you would like to come but cannot afford the ticket price you can reserve a place by emailing firsttimers@diyspaceforlondon.org

❤ About First Timers ❤
FTF is a season of workshops followed by a two-day festival where every band plays its first show. FTF is about getting new faces and voices in bands, and doing something about the lack of diversity in the make-up of the DIY music community.
As a direct way of addressing the lack of diversity in the make-up of the DIY music community, our workshops centre people who are disabled (visible or non-visible), LGBTQIA+ folk, people of colour, and women. As well, we are here to support people who have never played in a band before // never played the instrument they’ve always wanted to learn before because of their class, race, gender, mental health, etc.
Our 2020 festival will be taking place on May 2nd & 3rd 2020. Applications from new bands to play are open:

💖 About the venue, DIY Space for London 💖

On entering the venue there is a small ramp, which is quite steep and might require assistance going up and down. If you are a wheelchair user and not travelling with anyone, let us know in advance you are coming so someone at the venue can be there to assist.
