Short url:
TicketsA workshop of Southern African songs, followed by a performance of Southern African dance and song, including traditional Zimbabwean costume and storytelling.
Lucky Moyo
Engaging and energetic, Lucky is a UK based Zimbabwean singer and music leader, who, with his group, Uzambezi Arts, will bring us joyous and uplifting harmonies and rhythms from Southern Africa, accompanied by traditional costumes, dance and stories. In Zimbabwe, singing and dance are inseparable, and this workshop and show are guaranteed to get you on your feet.
Uzambezi Arts
The foremost Southern African multi-disciplinary arts ensemble in the UK, specialising in Southern African song, dance, drumming, story-telling, education and outreach work and other forms of community arts activities in the UK, across the EU, and recently in North America.
Some of the members’ CVs include performances on Blue Peter, the Generation Game, Later with Jools Holland, the Andrew Marr show and a host of other TV and radio programs. Venue appearances include places such as the Royal Festival Hall in London, and the Liverpool Phil. Some of the members were even commissioned to write songs for the Golden Jubilee, and for the late global icon, Nelson Mandela.
What makes this troupe very special and unique is the fact that it consists of veteran performing artists who have worked as tour managers and directors, and have professionally produced their own work.
The group’s membership is drawn from arts consultants, choreographers, singer-song writers, composers, and dancers. They have been in the industry more than 20 years with their previous successful groups such as Black Umfolosi, Black Spear, White Umfolosi and many more. Many of group members have toured extensively in many countries around the world thereby accumulating a wealth of experience in cross- cultural issues including human rights awareness.
