POSTPONED! Fighting for Cultural Space: Stories from the Front Line

Thanks to Covid we’re having to postpone this event yet again – sorry! New date TBC.
In the last ten years we have seen threats to grass-roots culture multiply and strengthen, while shared spaces such as libraries, community centres, theatres, art galleries, and pubs have been disappearing from our neighbourhoods. The value and importance of these spaces is immeasurable; we are still discovering the cost of what we have already lost while facing new threats every day.
Join us at PRSC Space where two veterans of this struggle will share their experiences, lessons learned and musings on the future.
Artspace Lifespace present the incredible story of taking underused sites and turning them into cultural landmarks, while ReSpace Projects share the highs and lows of their fight to protect London’s underground cultural scene.
There will be an opportunity for open discussion around what comes next, as well as a chance to hear about the groundbreaking work being done by Stokes Croft Land Trust to protect a valued cultural centre from the dangers of urban gentrification.
If you have questions to ask, stories to tell or ideas to propose, please come along for a drink and a chat!
This is a closing event for the free Stokes Croft Land Trust Exhibition @ The Vestibules, running from Tue 8 through to Fri 11 February.
