As We Know It: Art Expo in The Vondelbunker

Short url:

The year is 2345, and human life as we know it has become unrecognisable. Hosted in a bomb shelter in Vondelpark originally designed as a civil defence measure in the 1940s, ‘As We Know It’ asks artists to interpret the relics of our shattered present. Was riding in an automobile vehicular object a spiritual practice? What is the relationship between a bagel, a donut, a roll of tape and a CD-ROM, and why do they all have holes in the centre? What is this polyethylene terephthalate material, and why was it designed to last forever?

Welcome to the Vondelbunker!

The Vondelbunker is an autonomous cultural center run by volunteers who share the conviction that space is political. The bunker in its current form has been open since June 2011, hosting an unruly and dynamic cultural programme.
