It has been over seven months since Takland has declared independence of the Dutch state and everything is going great in our Vrijstraat. We have squatted three buildings, all in the range of 20 meters and are happy to elude Dutch repression for so long. But something has happened on the night of the 22nd of November, something we can no longer ignore. The fascist party PVV has become the biggest in the Dutch elections, following the global trend of the rise of the extreme right. Their election ‘promises’ make sure that the lives of people in Takland and elsewhere will be upended: closing down the borders, having more police (surveillance) and taking steps towards a white ethnostate. As Takland we have declared ourselves independent of the Dutch state, because we never believed their promises and only came in contact with them through police batons. But now that the fascists are gaining more and more power we will have to intervene. 

That’s why Takland is organizing their own election night. Our elections are meant as a joke, but somehow they still ask more politically relevant questions than the elections of the Dutch state. You can vote for one of the five political parties, all anarchists and all represented by animals, most of them vermin. They are based on squatter archetypes and could be read as either good faith strawmen or bad faith interpretations of sound arguments. All animals are needed in the movement and they are only effective when they work together. How are we going to continue from now on? Will squatting be enough, or do we need to expand our strategies to different domains? How do we make sure the outcome will be the revolution and not fascism? We will discuss these questions and more. 

Takland is still open for everyone who seeks asylum from the Dutch government. Takland still promises to fight for housing for all. In Takland everyone is mayor and no one holds power. Takland is forever and no election outcome can change that. Come to our election night on the 14th of December, 8 pm. Donations will go to antifascist actions.
