Published in Dutch a year ago, we proudly present the long-awaited brand new English translation! Take Back Mokum portrays the squatting movement and the housing struggle in Amsterdam today. Through essays, interviews and visual stories, it shows you how to take action and reclaim the city. 

This night we will also officially launch Uitgeverij Spookstad, a new activist publishing platform! Spookstad is independent, activist and experimental. It doesn’t seek profit. It does seek to support radical politics with radical publishing. Take Back Mokum is our first publication. 

To celebrate the launch, we invited contributor to the book René Boer to talk about his research on the “smooth city” and the importance of squatting. We will also present several of our other ongoing publishing projects, including one about this year’s student Intifada in collaboration with the People’s University. 
We will conclude the program with a mini KSU (squatting consultation hour) in case you feel ready to take some action yourself, and there will of course be the opportunity to buy Take Back Mokum! 

And we want to hear your ideas as well. If you are interested in publishing, writing, editing or designing and want to help us out, of have a great idea for a publication, or simply have any kind of question, we would love you to share it with us.
