A special D.C. night !
Screening of 6 short films about DC Punk from the archives of Punk the Capital (the documentary we screened a few years ago >> https://occii.org/events/film-punk-the-capital/). Jeff Nelson (Minor Threat, Dischord Records) will be present for Q&A. Discussion moderated by director James June Schneider. The two will be on tour with the documentary but this will be the only night of DC shorts, some only visible in person!

GOOD READ: Jeff Nelson, co-founder of Dischord Records and drummer of Minor Threat, talks D.C. punk of the 1980s and new documentary Punk the Capital

PUNK THE CAPITAL; BUILDING A SOUND MOVEMENT
a documentary and more ON THE RISE OF WASHINGTON D.C.’s PUNK UNDERGROUND (circa 1976-1983) | 88 minutes, 2019

The film features the Bad Brains, Minor Threat and figures such as Henry Rollins (2.13.61), Jello Biafra, HR, Cynthia Connolly, Joe Keithley (doa), Ian MacKaye…

Punk the Capital is both a documentary film exploration of the birth of DC Punk (circa 1976 to 1983) and a long term engagement with Punk Rock and its role as cultural catalyst. We continue to work in various capacities with other documentary projects, D.C. non-profit groups, and punk related archival projects.
