Can a human live Music? Yes he can ! Ask Rick Blansjaar, the singer of Evening News. He breathes and lives SKA, like your grandfather used to be inseparable with his chair and his 3 piece suit. And just like finding your perfect partner, to be able to live in music you have to have a certain amount of dedication and persistence. You’ve got to have Soul and Inspiration.
When they make Music, Evening News takes refuge in the houses and studio’s that where built by the legendary great artists from the history of Jamaican “roots and culture” , like Prince Buster, Linval Thompson, Desmond Dekker, The Skatalites, Lord Tanamo, Clancy Eccles, Yellowman and many others. Rick is the landlord of the group. He holds and brings it all together and sings with a SOUL as if he is homesick of Kingston in 1964. A lead singer that breathes SKA.
A compact band with a tight sound. With members that have learned the tricks of the trade in bands such as The Vibe, Ska-D-Lite, Lord B & the Sensationals, Rohan Lee & the Recipe and The Regulators. Evening News has squatted the old houses of these legendary Jamaican artists and have taken up their vibe and make it their duty to relight and strengthen the spirit of SKA. Fyah Bun. So get on your bike, take the bus or use your legs, get on that plane, jump on a train and join this band on a sensational, universal end even essential ride through the Jamaican landscape of 1964.

NATURAL PROGRESSION

For years nothing happened, no significant progress had been made. They longed for a new
sound, a more natural sound. It was about time for some new inspiration. With that in mind
‘Mr Montego’ and ‘King Robbie’ started out on their search for a new Reggae Band
Based in Amsterdam, the group expanded steadily and by now The Natural Progression
count 11 members. Driven by a passion for Roots and Dub Reggae and inspired by their
Jamaican heroes of old (Gregory Isaacs, Jacob Miller, Hugh Mundell and of course Bob
Marley) they started writing their own songs, a blend of original sounds, heavy basslines and
spiritual lyrics. Rastafari plays a big role in the life of these young artists and obviously that
resonates through their music. Also on stage, the positive energy radiates from The natural
progression and under guidance of frontman and lead singer Daniel ‘Mr. Montego’
Kroonenberg, one soon finds him or herself wandering off to a place where standing still is
virtually impossible.
