Miss Togar, the new uptight neo-fascist principal of Vince Lombardi High School, is determined to put her unruly students back in line. Things are looking grim as she dishes out the discipline, but as you might guess, it won't be long before America's greatest punk band the Ramones come on the scene with their jackhammer riffs blaring through the public intercom system at maximum volume, making the students go wild in the hallways.
With a story by Joe Dante, and produced by Roger Corman, Rock 'n' Roll High School is a blast - a wild homage to teenage rock 'n' roll movies of the 1950s, which always pitted fun against authoritarianism. So expect this exploitation film to be a head-on collision between a 50s musical and the noisy, anarchic energy of '70s punk rock, delivered by the inimitable Ramones. Certainly not a heady art film, but rather a cheap genre movie from a bygone era with an amazing cast and a rockin soundtrack. An anti-authoritarian cult classic with a spirit we seem to have lost today - maybe it's time to see this flick and get energized!
