The Mayor of Amsterdam is threatening Hotel Mokum with a speed eviction under the false pretense of fire safety. In response, we are organising a solidarity demonstration today, from 18:00—20:00 at Leidseplein. If you can, we ask you to join us there to show your solidarity with Hotel Mokum. It’s our last chance to save this beautiful place. Eviction for vacancy is unacceptable!

Fire safety is used as an excuse to get rid of Hotel Mokum. The fire department themselves declared our ground floor, where most of our events have happened, safe. We have already agreed to stop using the upper floors, and have already begun to work with an architecture studio to come up with a plan to make those floors safe to use, but our willingness to cooperate has been ignored. Fire safety was never the Mayor's goal here.

The current owner has no current plans to renovate the building. Those of us living at Hotel Mokum will be put on the street. This is an eviction for vacancy! Fuck this shit!
