[Meetups for trans, queer, women only] Let's talk about cis men

Patriarchy is a system where cis men hold primary power. Feminism as a social struggle opposes patriarchy and its symptoms (sexism, transphobia, homophobia etc). Intersectionality suggests that the different forms of oppression coexist and thus our understanding of feminism shouldn't be limited to gender repression (binary or not).

Men very often happen to be our sons, partners, fathers, co-workers, friends or even the dude next door. They also are active parts of feminist movements, support feminism in everyday situations and can understand how gendered socialisation affects us all. But how can men be feminists and what are the possible dangers or advantages of calling themselves feminists?

In this event we want to discuss navigating relationships with cis men as a feminist as well as their role in feminism.

This discussion is for women, queer people and trans people only and it aims to give ourselves space to think about how cis men fit in feminism and to provide tools for discussing feminism with them.
It is not aimed at education, support or engagement of cis men in feminist struggles. If you're a cis man and interested in a similar event don't hesitate to get in contact with us!

Our aim is to have a physical space to chill out, debate, break stuff, learn new tricks, de-learn norms and contribute to the ongoing struggle against the white supremacist capitalist cis-heteronormative patriarchy, with a cup of tea.
