Man, there are very few films being made these days which will really surprise you. It seems that you have to go back to the 70s to find a movie that is really different, that smashes all your expectations. And what a gem this discovery is. There are hundreds of movies made in the 60s and 70s that the studios buried, that never made it to TV, and weren't  released on DVD or VHS. Back in the 70s I saw films in packed cinemas that are totally forgotten today, not even mentioned in any history book... as if they never existed. This is forgotten cinema.

Every once and awhile someone digs up a piece of this "forgotten cinema". And the beautiful thing is that when it is seen again, after all these years, it's an absolute revelation. Good Luck Miss Wyckoff is one such experience. It's not a film I want to say much about, because it should be fresh when someone sees it.... but the premise is about a High-school teacher (Anne Heywood) working in a conservative Kansas town ironically called Freedom. She is 35 years old, repressed, and is at war with her own sexuality... until one day when she gets involved in a mad relationship. The results are explosive...  both austere/controlled and wildly transgressive at the same time.

Shot in a straight melodramatic Hollywood style, but plunging into themes that are still shocking today, this is one volatile cinematic cocktail that still delivers a kick to our sensibilities! Directed by Marvin Chomsky (Roots), based on the book by William Inge (Splendor in the Grass) and scripted by the extraordinary Polly Platt (Pretty Baby). And as far as the cast, it  stars Donald Pleasance (Polanski's Cul de Sac), Carolyn Jones (Morticia in the original Addams Family series) and Ronee Blakley (Nashville). The soaring musical score is by Ernst Gold (Exodus). An incredible cast in an amazing, forgotten film.

Obviously this will be an outrageously rare screening of this recently unburied treasure.... and of course we will be showing the uncut version... in full high-definition!
