Gustavo Jahn and Melissa Dullius | 2015 - 2020 | Brazil, Germany | 80’ | EN subs

Gustavo Jahn and Melissa Dullius have been directing and producing, for over a decade, enigmatic films between refined storytelling and dreamy abstraction. Their films search for a visual purity that’s historically connected to experimental cinema, making clear to us that cinema is all about images. The duo started making films in 1999, first on Super 8 and later on 16mm. After co-founding the artist-run film lab LaborBerlin, they started incorporating experimental practices in their creative process, giving birth to Distruktur. This program of short and mid-length films celebrates three of their films in which displacement and transpositions happen from one city to the other, one culture to the other.  Combining fiction and personal archive in these films, they find and rearrange symbols from different times and places, exploring states in between reality and dream, past and future.
