Lenin, so much discussed by left-wing West Germans in the 1960s and 1970s, said that in Communism every homemaker must learn to conduct matters of state. This film asks: how will the housewife do this in the midst of her fragmented and varied workday? The main character is not a housewife, but a freelance photographer, played by Helke Sander, who has a son, a boyfriend, artistic ambitions and works 16 hours a day. The film ridicules the socialist ideal of a fully developed personality in all aspects.
Screened as part of the Helke Sander Retrospective organized by Filmhuis Cavia and the Goethe Institut.
