Anarchist Film Festival
After a 7 year hiatus Filmhuis Cavia is proud to host the comeback of the Anarchist Film Festival!
The Anarchist Group Amsterdam have organised a three day festival, with a special 6 hour screening on Monday, in collaboration with Filmhuis Cavia. We will be showcasing a broad spectrum of anarchist film, ranging from deceptively childlike animations to in-your-face soft porn, from candid documentaries to surrealist explorations of human nature.
The festival program can be roughly divided into two categories. The first are direct examples of grassroots activism and insurrection like the Kurdish women’s liberation fighters, migrant rescue in the Mediterranean and Eco terrorism. There are also movies that play with the idea of subversion against authority in general, whether that be corporate, patriarchal or sexual. These films are not constrained to a single political narrative. They explore our whole life experience, spanning from personal to environmental, raising questions of freedom, power and authority, or even the very nature of what it means to be an anarchist itself.
Along side the movies we will have vegan food and baked goods, merch stands for groups like Abortion Network Amsterdam, the Spanish CNT and the Zapatistas National Liberation Army and there will of course be some cool bands scheduled for the evenings to start the party!
Tickets will be on donation with all proceeds going to the Anarchist Defence Fund.
